How to make Homemade Spaghetti Bolognese Sauce

To get started on your tomato rich sauce, you first need to heat up your oil over medium high. You do not want to get the pan too hot, but it needs to be hot enough that your oil is ready for some veggies.

Add your onion and garlic and cook up for about 5 minutes.

This is my favorite part and always brings everyone to the kitchen to see what I am cooking. Garlic and Onions are just so fragrant!

Add your beef and pork.

Do not skip adding both kinds of meats. Sure, you can make a traditional beef spaghetti sauce with this recipe minus the pork, but why? The double meat adds a special almost sweet flavor that will really make this bolognese perfectly delicious.

Why is it called Bolognese Sauce?

Bolognese simply means that its a meat based sauce and its from Bologna, Italy and simply named after the town its from!

Once your meat and pork is cooked, add red wine vinegar and cook for about 2-3 minutes.

You are coming to the end of your recipe! Whew!

Add the rest of your spices and the tomato sauce, combining everything together and then leaving to simmer till it begins to boil. Do not walk away, this happens pretty quickly.

Turn down your heat after reaching a bubble and let simmer for about 20 more minutes, stirring on occasion.

You can add a little beef broth if it becomes too thick for your liking, which I typically do because I enjoy a bit of liquid over my pasta as well.
