This February, as we celebrate Black History Month, it's important to reflect on the health inequities that still impact Black communities. Covid-19 highlighted glaring disparities, with higher rates of infection, hospitalization, and death among Black Americans. However, these inequities existed long before the pandemic. As we honor the fights for justice and civil rights of generations past, we must recommit to the fight for health equity today. Quality, affordable healthcare should be a right for all, regardless of race, ethnicity or zip code. This means expanding access, addressing social determinants of health, increasing representation of Black professionals in healthcare, and continually assessing outcomes. The journeys toward progress of the past teach us that justice comes from sustained commitment. This Black History Month, let us reflect and act with purpose toward equity and justice in healthcare and beyond. The wellbeing of too many depends on it.

February isn't just about celebrating Black history; it's a powerful reminder of Black excellence. From innovation and brilliance to resilience and community, the impact of Black culture resonates across every facet of our world. This month, I'm deeply inspired by the sacrifices the countless Black women who paved the way. Yet, the work isn't finished. With less than 1% of VC funding reaching Black women and minimal representation in tech leadership, we must push for progress.Let's use this month for reflection:Have you invested in Black-woman led companies? Does your leadership team and talent reflect the diversity of the world? What biases do you hold unconsciously, and how can you actively unlearn them?Beyond reflection, let's act. What actions will you take this month and beyond to create a more equitable world? Happy Black History Month!
